Let’s get to know each other. I’ll start.
I’ve been a registered nurse for the past 20 years. I have worked in almost every part of the hospital. I’ve also worked in research labs, cared for people in their homes, pediatric care, palliative care, hospice care, integrative and naturopathic medicine.
I became certified in healing touch in 2014 where I started to notice the magic of energy work in the healing of people–body and spirit. I went through yoga teacher training later that same year, noticing the improvements in healing when people connected mind to body. I’ve been teaching various styles of yoga since then. Additionally, I went through 2 more teacher trainings and have nearly 500 hours of training and over 1000 teaching hours.
I have become overly frustrated with our healthcare system noticing how many patients I saw that were being mistreated, under-diagnosed, ignored and yet still overmedicated! Then they left feeing really dismissed by their doctors. Most of the time, after a long conversation with the patient and taking the time to hear the whole story, I began to see how I could help. The problem was I needed more time with the patient and a different angle to approach their care–a more holistic approach that would take some time.
I’m not dismissing the need for medicine nor the intelligence of doctors, but there’s just more to the picture. I underwent training for health coaching in 2019, which entailed a very intense nutrition course, extensive training in habit change methods that I’ve seen work and a joint certification in life coaching because we are truly body, mind, and spirit–all must heal together to see lasting results.
I’m also a mother to two young kids that keep me on my toes and help me understand the need for multi-tasking in our busy lives. I juggle their needs and my own with the tools I’ve learned over the years.
With all my cumulative experience I’m ready to help–my way. I can bring in all my knowledge and experience and create an individually made plan for you. I will be there with you either week after week in a health coaching contract, as a yoga instructor or hopefully a combination of all of it.
I can’t wait to get started.
